The CHIJ CONCERT BAND no.107. : SILVER.
Surprised?
Sad?
Disappointed?
Angry?
Expected?
There were lot emotions in the band room after the results were announced.
People,
cried,
disappointed,
resigned to fate,
angry,
or just did not know what to do.
I did not cry.
I did not feel anything.
Not sad.
Not happy.
Just disappointed.
I dont get it, why people actually cry over a silver medal.
Isnt silver just as good as gold?
Or at least its better than getting a bronze 4 years ago.
BE GRATEFUL.
BE CONTENTED.
BUT don't be sad.
The band has worked hard,
done their best,
and practiced hard.
I BELIEVE WE DID THE BEST.
I BELIEVE IN THE BAND.
I LOVE THE BAND JUST LIKE HOW I LOVE THE BAND BEFORE.
BUT THIS TIME.
IT'S DIFFERENT.
I TREASURE THE BAND MORE.
To me,
The band was never about medals.
The band was never about competition.
But.
The band was always about making new friends.
The band was always about gaining new experience, new knowledge.
The band was always about doing their best and never regret.
The band was always about performing.
The band was always about going for concerts.
The band was always about bonding.
The band was always about having fun.
The band was always about playing to the best.
The band was always about working hard and playing hard.
The band was always about learing new rythms and melodies.
The band was always about working and playing as a team.
The band was always about unity.
The band unites beacause they believe in ...
1 BAND, 1 SOUND.
1 HEART, 1 MIND.
The band is still young.
Its only the 3rd SYF.
The band is growing.
It WILL do better in the years ahead.
It will continue to improve.
and I always believe the band will work hard.
I always knew all along...
that the band was about playing,
learing and gaining important lessons.
Through Mr Sim's departure,
I learnt how to not take things for granted.
I learnt how important it is to treasure one's presence.
And most importantly,
learning how to adapt.
There may be unhappiness,
uncertainty and doubt.
But the as human beings,
we learn how to overcome,
and make best out of it.
Through the SYF competition,
I learnt important experiences.
I learnt new knowledge.
I learnt how to be strong.
I learnt how to overcome challenges.
I learnt that the band was not about individuals.
Therefore i am glad, happy and contented...
For i have made the right choice...
For joining the band.
I can't be more grateful for what the band has thought me.
Although its a silver medal band.
It's still a band afterall.
We dont carry the medal everywhere we go.
We shouldnt be saying that we wasted our time.
We should look at the situation with a positive mindset.
We should learn from our mistakes.
We may not ba able to make it this time.
There will always be another chance.
Most important thing is....
We grow as a band and learn from our mistakes.
The band may be a silver medal band...
To me...
ITS NOT THE COLOUR OF THE MADAL THAT MATTERS.
ITS THE NEVER ENDING PERSEREVERANCE OF THE BAND THAT MATTERS.
In my eyes...
The band will always be a gold medal band with honors.
I am proud of the IJ CONCERT BAND.
I thank the band....
For all that i have learnt..
For all that i have been through.
For the times i had.
I am happy.
I am grateful, I joined the band.
I will work hard...
to repay the band for whatever they have given me...
the knowledge, the experience.
I will use all these important factors...
To make myself a better player...
A better band member.
I love the band.
